U.S. Army Lt. Col. Steven Gventer, commander of Battle Group Poland, addresses Polish government officials and thousands of Piotrkow Trybunalski citizens as part of a welcome ceremony March 29, 2017. Gventer talked about the multinational battle group's unique mission and gave assurances that they are fully prepared to fulfill the NATO pledge “to deter Russian aggressive actions on the alliance's eastern flank.” The battle group, comprised of U.S., U.K. and Romanian soldiers, is conducting a Road March from Vilseck, Germany, to Orzysz, Poland, where it will join the Polish Army’s 15th Mechanized Brigade and serve as a deterrence force as part of NATO's Enhanced Forward Presence.
