A rigid hull inflatable boat from the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mahan (DDG 72) pulls alongside the coastal patrol craft USS Thunderbolt (PC 12) during a trilateral exercise between the U.S., Iraq and Kuwait. The U.S.-Iraq-Kuwait trilateral exercise, the first of its kind, is a quarterly exercise that serves to develop the proficiency of all participating forces to work together in support of regional safety and security. USS Mahan is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
