More than 60,000 pounds of mail are sorted in the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). Normally, the ship's post office receives approximately 1,000 to 2,000 pounds of mail each day, hoever a recent port call where postage services were unavailable caused a backup of undelivered mail. George Washington, the Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, is underway helping to ensure security and stability in the western Pacific Ocean. (Photo by: David A. Cox)
