Hospitalman Cesar Castro, assigned to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49), gets a ride during a community service project at the Angel C. Manglicmot Memorial School. Harpers Ferry is in the Philippines to participate in Amphibious Landing Exercise 2011 (PHIBLEX 11), an annual, bilateral, amphibious-landing training exercise that improves interoperability, increases readiness, and builds professional relationships between the U.S. and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Harpers Ferry is part of the permanently forward-deployed Essex Amphibious Ready Group and is underway in the western Pacific Ocean.
