PACIFIC OCEAN (April 2, 2017) The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) fires a Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) during a live-fire exercise. Nimitz is currently underway conducting Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Nimitz Carrier Strike in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
