Haitian women stand crowded together while waiting in line for food coupons. The United Nations World Food Program completed its final day of surge distribution to the people of Port-au-Prince, Feb. 20, at Distribution Point 6 located outside the perimeter of LSA Sustainer. “Over 12,000 metric tons of rice has been distributed to nearly half a million families in the PaP area through the efforts of the WFP,” said Maj. Dominic Gosling, Support Operations Humanitarian Aid, British Exchange officer, 7th Sustainment Brigade, LSA Sustainer. “Each family received 25 kilograms of rice at the DP which is enough to feed a family of six for one week.” Members of the 7th Sustainment Brigade began arriving to Haiti the last week of January and by the 30th the first food coupons, required to pick up a bag of rice, had been distributed to people in need by Non-Governmental Organizations and by the 31st the first DPs were operational.
