PACIFIC OCEAN (April 7, 2017) – Marines attached to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), deployed aboard amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22), fast-rope from a UH-1Y Huey, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 161, while boarding the motor vessel M/V ATLS-9701 during a visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) exercise. San Diego, as part of the America Amphibious Ready Group and Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 3, is participating in PHIBRON-MEU Integration (PMINT) Training Exercise, a two week training evolution between PHIBRON 3 and the 15th MEU, which trains Sailors and Marines to become a cohesive unit and further mission readiness in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
