Kyra Phillips, mistress of ceremonies duringTragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) 2017 Honor Guard Gala, listens to remarks by retired Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, 18th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C., April 12, 2017. Gen. Dunford served as the event’s keynote speaker where he spoke about the importance of the TAPS organization. During the event, the National Basketball Association and USA Basketball were awarded the inaugural National Community Partnership Award, presented for the support they have shown for the Nation’s military families and personal engagement with the surviving families of America’s fallen heroes.
