A U.S. Air Force F-35A Lightning II prepares to take fuel from a KC-135 Stratotanker, from the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, over North America en route to Royal Air Forces Lakenheath, England, April 14, 2017. The Air Force has deployed a small number of F-35A aircraft from the 34th Fighter Squadron, 388th Fighter Wing and the Air Force Reserve’s 466th Fighter Squadron, 419th Fighter Wing, Hill Air Force Base, Utah for a long-planned training deployment to Europe. The F-35As will also forward deploy to various NATO bases maximizing training opportunities while also strengthening the NATO alliance and enhance NATO’s collective deterrence posture.
