Larry McCullen, commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), addresses the attendees of a change of command ceremony in the ship’s hangar bay. During the ceremony, McCullen relieved Capt. Jeffrey Ward as the ship’s commanding officer. Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
