ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Georgia – The RAM Air Inlet is located beneath the wing of an aircraft where it takes in outside air to feed cooling systems during flight. The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Advanced Power Technology Office is in the process of testing a new, lightweight composite RAM Air Inlet system for the C-5M Super Galaxy Transport Aircraft intended to replace legacy air inlets, providing a lightweight, cost-effective alternative to maintain the fleet.
