Shinji Ichiyanagi (left) and his nephew Takashi Minda look at a display about the Camp McCoy prisoner-of-war camp April 11 at the Fort McCoy History Center. Ichiyanagi’s father and Minda’s grandfather, Sosuke Ichiyanagi, was held at the camp from 1943 to 1945. Minda said his grandfather spoke highly of his time at Camp McCoy and really appreciated the care and attention that he got from the Soldiers stationed at the post. He said the Soldiers treated him with great respect and fed him when there was no food to eat. (U.S. Army Photo by Aimee Malone, Public Affairs Office, Fort McCoy, Wis.)
