PEARL HARBOR (May 1, 2017) A Marine assigned to the Ridge Runners of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 (Reinforced) salutes as the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) render honors to the USS Arizona Memorial and arrives at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for a scheduled port visit. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is visiting Hawaii during their return transit to San Diego following a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 3rd, 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.
