A Sailor assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 5 (EODMU5) Platoon 142 uses a laptop aboard a Coastal Riverine Group 1 Detachment Guam MK VI patrol boat to receive status updates from an unmanned underwater vehicle off the coast of Saipan May 9, 2017. EODMU5 is currently testing its ability to deploy assets from various platforms, including helicopters and patrol boats, to increase its adaptive interoperability. EODMU5 conducts mine countermeasures, improvised explosive device operations, renders safe explosive hazards and disarms underwater explosives such as mines.
