PACIFIC OCEAN – Marines load into a UH-1Y Huey on the flight deck of USS San Diego (LPD 22) in preparation to fast rope onto a vessel during a visit, board, search and seizure mission as part of Composite Training Unit Exercise, May 12, 2017. COMPTUEX is the second at-sea training period for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the America Amphibious Ready Group as part of their pre-deployment training. VBSS missions are conducted to capture and control a suspected enemy vessel in order to combat terrorism, piracy and smuggling operations on the sea. Throughout these at-sea periods the Blue-Green team has work closely to hone their skill sets to meet critical mission sets.
