Two Marines, 19-year-old Lance Corporal Jarred Shoemaker and 54-year-old Sgt. Maj. Thomas Reilly celebrated the Marines' 235th birthday today. Following U.S. Marine tradition, the oldest Marine takes the first bite of birthday cake decorated with the U.S. Marine logo and then passes it on to the youngest Marine, which denotes carrying on the tradition of the Marine Corps from the old corps to the new.
