Pfc. John Carpenter, an aircraft powertrain repairer with D Troop, 4th Reconnaissance Squadron, 6th Calvary Regiment, uses a non-destructive composite inspection instrument to check for surface cracks in the casing around the tail of the AH-64E on April 29, 2017. This is used during the 500-hour phase maintenance of the helicopter where a crew systematically takes apart specific sections of the Apache to clean, inspect, repair or replace parts of the AH-64E.
