U.S. Air Force Capt. Paul Clausen, 40th Airlift Squadron pilot, conducts pre-flight checks on a C-130J Super Hercules prior to a training sortie May 16, 2017, at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. The purpose of the training sortie was to conduct three pallet drops over Texas airspace.The mission of the 40th AS is to maintain quality aircrew and aircraft to mobilize, deploy and provide intratheater airlift worldwide for Department of Defense customers.
