ATLANTIC OCEAN (May 26, 2017)—Lt. Mary McGinn, from Martinsville, Virginia, assigned to Pre-Commissioning Unit Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) dental department, receives a Surface Warfare Medical Department Officer pin at a departmental awards ceremony. The future USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) – the first new U.S. aircraft carrier design in 40 years spent several days conducting acceptance trials, a comprehensive test of many of the ship’s key systems and technologies.
