The converted farmhouse that German soldiers used as a secure point during World War II still stands near La Fiere Bridge, which the 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers secured in the days following D-Day, in Sainte-Mere-Eglise, France, June 4, 2017. Overall, approximately 400 U.S. service members from units in Europe and the U.S. are participating in ceremonial D-Day 73 events and ceremonies from May 31 to June 7, 2017.
