U.S. Army 2nd Ranger Battalion D-Day veteran, George Klein, salutes during the National Anthem at the Pointe du Hoc Ranger Monument commemoration ceremony, June 5, 2017 in Cricqueville en Bessin, France. Klein served as the commanding officer of Fox Company, 2nd Ranger Regiment, during World War II. This ceremony commemorates the 73rd anniversary of D-Day, the largest multi-national amphibious landing and operational military airdrop in history, and highlights the U.S.’ steadfast commitment to European allies and partners. Overall, approximately 400 U.S. servicemembers from units in Europe and the U.S. are participating in ceremonial D-Day events from May 31 to June 7, 2017.
