VENTSPILS, Latvia – U.S. Marine reservist. Maj. Thomas Gingles, rifle company commander for Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Bossier City, Louisiana, and Marine Cpl. Jordan Chatagnier, radio operator, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, receive a report from fellow Marines during an amphibious assault on enemy forces, Ventspils beach, June 6. U.S. Marine Reserve units from the 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, and Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division and 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, Force Headquarters Group, Marine Forces Reserve combine equipment and personnel to push Latvian forces back from the beach and into the woods. The amphibious assault is a part of the 45th rendition of exercise Baltic Operations.
