U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Marion Garcia, 200th Military Police Commander, was officially promoted to her current rank on May 25, 2017.
“(I'm motivated by taking command) certainly not because others can’t do it. A lot of people can do what I do. There’s a lot of great commanders and generals out there. I’m not better than them. So my drive to command is not because I can do it better than anyone else. I think it’s because I’m one of those people who sees a 17-year-old kid with a sharp haircut, acne all over his face, needs to shave only once a week, and I say to myself, ‘I want to work with him. I want to help him achieve excellence.’ He may not always love how I lead him, but I’m okay with that. So long as we are striving toward that same goal together,” she said.
