Dorian Walker, Chairman of Friends of Jenny, taxis with the JN-4D Curtiss Jenny during the 2017 Scott Air Force Base Air Show, June 11, 2017. Walker and his team of aviation enthusiasts deciphered 600 Smithsonian blueprints to reconstruct the aircraft as one of seven flying JN-4 Jennys in the world and the only one in existence that is capable of flying across the country. The Jenny has flown over 316 flying hours, been to 14 states, and been seen by over two million people. To Walker, Jenny is as much of a lesson as it is a lesson. “I really believe in the notion that you need to understand your past, look at what worked and what didn’t work as a foundation for building a better future,” Walker said. “The more we know about the past, maybe the better we can build that future.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
