DES MOINES, Iowa—U.S. Army Reserve Col. James Kerby, assumed command of the 7456th Medical Backfill Battalion based in Des Moines, Iowa during a Change of Command Ceremony presided over by Col. Louis Feliciano, commander of the Central Medical Area Readiness Support Group, on Saturday, June 10th. Outgoing commander, Col. Jerry Betzler, has served as the 7456th commander since Sept. 12, 2015. The Change of Command ceremony symbolizes the continuation of leadership and unit identity despite the change in individual authority; it also represents the transfer of power from one individual to another.
