170613-N-TI567-010 STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss. -- International students participating in the Patrol Craft Officer - Coastal Course at the Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School complete a coastal navigation block of instruction.
The 10 students participating in Class 17-4's iteration of PCO-C are from Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru.
PCO-C is an eight-week maritime course of instruction designed to provide personnel with the knowledge and skills to operate coastal patrol craft in a patrol setting in accordance with approved doctrine. Course topics include human rights, mission planning, onboard electronic navigation equipment, utilization of onboard crew-served weapons, security patrols using night vision goggles, maritime interdiction operations and the transport of ground forces.
NAVSCIATTS is a Security Cooperation schoolhouse operating under U.S. Special Operations Command in support of Foreign Security Assistance and Geographic Combatant Commanders' Theater Security Cooperation priorities. NAVSCIATTS, located on the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, trains and educates Partner Nation special operations forces, SOF-like forces and SOF enablers across the tactical, operational and strategic spectrums through in-residence and Mobile Training Team engagements.
