    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

    Marines with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Force Reconnaissance Platoon exit a U.S. Air Force C130 Hercules at 10,000 feet during static-line parachute training above Okinawa, Japan, June 6, 2017. The Marines of FRP conduct regular and routine parachute training above Ie Shima Training Facility, on Ie Jima, an island off the west coast of Okinawa. FRP is part of the 31st MEU’s Maritime Raid Force, which specializes in reconnaissance from the sea. The 31st MEU partners with the Navy’s Amphibious Squadron 11 to form the amphibious component of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group.
