170508-N-ME988-010 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (May 8, 2017) Landing Craft, Air Cushion 60, assigned to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 4 departs the well deck aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) during exercise Eager Lion 2017. Eager Lion is an annual U.S. Central Command exercise in Jordan designed to strengthen military-to-military relationships between the U.S., Jordan and other international partners. This year’s iteration is comprised of about 7,200 military personnel from more than 20 nations that will respond to scenarios involving border security, command and control, cyber defense and battlespace management. Carter Hall, part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
