The 36th Infantry Division flag proudly flies next to the Iraq and United States flag on the morning of Jan. 2, 2011. The Texas Army National Guard division officially took command of United States Division–South from 1st Inf. Div. during a transfer of authority ceremony at the Contingency Operating Base Basra chapel, the third National Guard unit to command a USD area of operations in Iraq since the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
