More than 20 people attending an archaeological tour June 27, 2017, visit a dig site on South Post at Fort McCoy, Wis. The group toured an active phase III archaeological dig being conducted by a team with Colorado State University’s Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands under contract with Fort McCoy. The group learned about the effort by Fort McCoy to preserve the installation’s past and the types of artifacts found at the site, which includes pieces of pottery that are thousands of years old.
