GULF OF ADEN (July 16, 2017) U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Benito Garcia with 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines fires an M4A1 carbine on the flight deck of USS Carter Hall (LSD 50), Gulf of Aden, July 18, 2017, during a live fire exercise. The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit is currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
