For three weeks, Orta and Kennedy, along with other joint military service members worked alongside each other in the 345th CSHwithin the combined joint operating area in the notional country of Atropia during the Global Medic Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX) at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif. 345th CSH, apart of the 332nd Medical Brigade, 3d Medical Command (Deployment Support), participated in the event as the premier health support provider to the combined joint task force that included military members from the U.S. Army Guard Reserve (AGR) and Army Reserve, Navy, Air Force, Marines, along with medical professionals from the Canadian Army and Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The full range of medical capabilities support provided by the Joint Task Force honed skills in providing medical services such as ambulatory care, medical evacuation, emergency room triage and treatment, x-ray, laboratory and dental services, preventive medicine, advanced trauma management, pharmacy, and clinical services. Global Medic is a situational scenario-based simulation exercise focused on the development of 80% strategic/operational and 20% joint medical and tactical skills and is held simultaneously at various locations from Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., to Fort Devens, Mass., Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif., Camp Roberts and Camp Parks, Calif.
