U.S. Marines and members of the South African Navy’s Maritime Reaction Squadron (MRS) integrate and pose for a photo during Exercise Shared Accord 17 (SA17) at South African Army Combat Training Center, Lohatla, South Africa, July 22, 2017. During SA17 members of the MRS and U.S. Marines formed integrated units, building interoperability as they learn each others techniques, tactics, and procedures. SA17 is a Joint bi-lateral Field Training Exercise with our South African partners focused on Peace Keeping Operations designed to exercise participants’ capability and capacity to conduct African Union / United Nations mandated Peace Keeping Operations.
