Brig. Gen. Joesph L. Osterman, commanding general, 1st Marine Division (Forward) and Sgt. Maj. Phillip Fascetti, 1st MarDiv(Fwd) sergeant major ceremoniously cut the birthday cake during the 70th anniversary of the Blue Diamond, Feb. 1. A Marine from each regimental combat team and division unit in theater joined Osterman and Fascetti for the first piece of cake.
