Michael Buchanan, a jump master with 3rd Battalion, 238th General Support Aviation Regiment, sits on the loading ramp of a U.S. Army Boeing CH-47 Chinook at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center, Michigan, during exercise Northern Strike 17, Aug. 2, 2017. The high-altitude, high-opening (HAHO) parachute insertion method allows Marines to covertly insert themselves onto the battlefield to conduct reconnaissance, acting as the eyes and ears for the commander.
