Staff Sgt. Darius Lyons, communications noncommissioned officer with 3rd Infantry Division’s Main Command Post-Operational Detachment, writes his daughter’s address on an envelope to send her a children’s book prior to deploying August 3, 2017. Lyons and approximately 160 other Soldiers assigned to the 3rd ID headquarters departed for Afghanistan in support of Operations Resolute Support and Freedom’s Sentinel. The books were donated to the United Services Organizations Fort Stewart, Ga. chapter for deploying Soldiers to send to their young loved ones prior to leaving for their mission.
