A 175th Wing Maryland Air National Guard A-10C Thunderbolt II comes in on approach to the boom arm of a 459th Air Refueling Wing KC-135R Stratotanker en route to Iceland Aug. 3, 2017. The single KC-135 unloaded 33,100 pounds of fuel to five A-10s during the trip from Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, to Iceland. Without the refueling capability of the KC-135s, the single-day overseas trip could take over a week for the fighters, which would need to make several stops along the way to refuel.
