Jonathan Akiona, a deputy with the King County Sheriff’s Office, and his partner Chase, an English springer spaniel explosives detection canine, conduct an explosives sweep during a joint international demonstration through bleachers at Safeco in Seattle, Aug. 8, 2017.

Chase, who was originally adopted from a family in Lake Stevens who could no longer take care of him, has been partnered with Akiona since November of 2011.
