Known for being the U.S’s largest multinational live fire exercise, Exercise Northern Strike has been privileged with the company of 3rd Battalion The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (3 PWRR) widely known as ‘The Tigers’ on their annual multinational event.
140 Reservists from Kent, Surrey and Sussex have put their civilian jobs aside for their annual two weeks training exercise which has been greatly welcomed and is being enjoyed by all.
The exercise is providing accessible readiness building opportunities for all forces involved.
British and American troops have been being mixed together in their Platoons to train and develop their interoperability skills in preparation for future conflicts. They have been practicing some essential skills, which have included advancing forward in difficult and wooded terrain under fierce enemy fire with the aim to push them back in order to continue their advanced.
Successfully operating in conjunction with troops from other participating nations not only demonstrates 3 PWRRs’ interoperability skills in being able to work with NATO partners, it allows the Regiment to develop and build it’s capability across the whole of the Battalion and it gives them the opportunity to integrate and practice working in a coalition. It also allows them to build upon their basic soldier infantry skills to ‘shoot, move and communicate ‘ and allows everyone to develop and practice in these challenging environments.
