General Kim, Byeong Joo assumes responsibility as the Deputy Commander, for the Combined Force Command during a ceremony held at U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, Aug. 11. Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, United Nations Command, CFC, U.S. Forces Korea commander presided over the ceremony.
General Kim took the reins from Gen. Leem, Ho-young who retires after 40 years of military service.
The Combined Forces Command reflects the mutual commitment of the Republic of Korea and the United States to maintain peace and security, and the willingness and capability to take that commitment into battle, if the need arises.
