NORFOLK (Aug. 10, 2017)— Lt. Thomas Diggs, left, and Lt. j.g. Mia Galassi, students of the Navy’s first Role 2 Light Maneuver (R2LM) course, simulate treating a patient during a combat surgery training exercise using a mannequin. The objective of the pilot course, being held at Surface Warfare Medical Institute (SWMI) East, a detachment of Navy Medicine Operational Training Center (NMOTC), is to build a mobile unit equipped to set up a functioning medical area with advanced trauma life support capabilities.
