PACIFIC OCEAN—Air Support 3 Angus Moss assigned to Air Department aboard USS San Diego (LPD 22) directs a UH-1Y Huey as it lands on the flight deck, Aug. 3, 2017. External lifts are essential for moving heavy equipment or supplies from ship to ship and ship to shore. The 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and America Amphibious Ready Group are operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance regional partnerships and serve as a ready-response capability for any type of contingency. The Marines are with the 15th MEU’s Logistical Combat Element, Combat Logistics Battalion-15 and the aircraft is with the Aviation Combat Element, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 (REIN).
