170814-N-OW019-0026 SAN DIEGO (Aug. 14, 2017) The Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47) transits San Diego Bay while departing for a regularly scheduled deployment. Rushmore, with embarked U.S. Coast Guard District 14 maritime law enforcement personnel, deployed in support of the Oceana Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI), a secretary of defense program leveraging Department of Defense assets transiting the region to increase the Coast Guard’s maritime domain awareness, ultimately supporting its maritime law enforcement operation in Oceana.
