Maryl Meise, a U.S. contractor for the Iraq Training and Advisory Mission – Air, teaches English to Iraqi air force air traffic control students learning "Ab Initio," or ATC fundamentals, Feb. 3. The IqAF currently has 55 officers in ITAM–Air's ATC training pipeline at Kirkuk, Taji and Ali airfields. Of those, 15 have been certified to work inside control towers, and six are licensed by the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority - the equivalent of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.
