KABUL, Afghanistan – Sgt. Aaron Cole (left) and 1st Lt. Matthew Tina, both of Headquarters Company, 1/181st Infantry, Massachusetts Army National Guard, and a volunteer firefighter on Camp Phoenix, trains in the proper use of a combat fire hose during a controlled burn demonstration, Dec. 17. The training would quickly be put to use as both soldiers were the first on-scene to respond with either a combat fire hose or fire retardant foam at both a fire at a local national’s gift shop, Dec. 29, and an electric generator fire, Jan. 27.
