Members of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa Logistics Directorate’s Base Operating Support-Integrator office coordinate support resources at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, August 18, 2017. U.S. Africa Command designated CJTF-HOA as BOS-I in August 2016, putting the 500-person task force in charge of coordinating the efficient use of mission resources to sustain U.S. forces in forward operating locations in Somalia. Currently, CJTF-HOA’s main effort is to improve security in Somalia by neutralizing violent extremist organizations like al-Shabaab and successfully transitioning security responsibilities from the African Union Mission in Somalia to the Somali National Security Forces.
