A Command Celestial Observation Naval Hospital Bremerton (NHB)
Executive Board members take a moment - at 10:22 Pacific Standard Time - to
safely view the long-anticipated solar eclipse atop their facility on August
21, 2017. The partial eclipse began around 9:10 a.m. and lasted until
approximately 11:40 a.m. In the weeks leading up to the event, NHB's
Ophthalmology/Eye Surgery Clinic had consistently reminded patients and
staff to remember to not directly look at the eclipse without proper eye protection - not even for a few seconds - due to the concern about temporary and sometimes permanent loss of vision that could occur. (Official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, Naval Hospital Bremerton Public Affairs Officer).
