PORT HUENEME, Calif. (Aug. 22, 2017) – An infrared thermometer is used to read the temperature of tested samples of flight deck material. This material is exposed to temperatures exceeding 350 degrees F and heavy thrust inside the Aircraft Engine Simulation Facility (AESF). The operation of the AESF requires the operator to use personal protective equipment to lessen the likelihood of safety mishaps. IH surveys record heat and sound levels to implement the necessary safety controls and maintain the safety of all EXWC personnel.
