Petty Officer 2nd Class Edgardo Tayag, engineering aid of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3’s Engineering Department, drafts plans for a 32 foot by 32 foot building to be built here in Camp Leatherneck. Although many of the structures that are built by Seabees have blueprints stored electronically by Naval Facilities Command frequently modifications have to be made to them in order to better support the customer’s needs that is where the engineering aids step in. The Seabees are a part of NMCB 3’s Det. 2 that is leaving Camp Leatherneck, and assist other units around Afghanistan with construction services. NMCB 3 is an expeditionary element of US Naval Forces providing construction, engineering and security services in support of national strategy, naval power projection, humanitarian assistance and contingency operations.
