U.S. Marines refuel a CH-53E Super Stallion at a forward arming refueling point in Hokkaido, Japan, August 16, 2017, in support of Northern Viper 2017. The FARP mission is to provide fuel and ordnance necessary for aircraft to minimize response time and decrease turnaround time during operations. NV17 tests the interoperability and bilateral capability of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and U.S. Marine Corps forces to work together and provides the opportunity to conduct realistic training in an unfamiliar environment. The Marines are assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Andy Martinez)
